Has Anyone Ever ?

My blog is named NVASHAG. Does anyone have any idea what the title stands for ? Some people in far away places think it is a sex title, some will think it is a profane word. I will let ya'll in on what it is. It is a dance..
We live in the Northern Va area near Washington DC. I was born and raised in North Carolina. We have a dance that some say and think of as part of West Coast or East Coast Swing.. In ways it looks like a swing dance and we dance to some of the same music. The dance is called Carolina Shag. It is a southern dance that has spread to other parts of the US. It is a very smooth controlled dance, when done correctly is very beautiful and a true piece of art. When done incorrectly it looks like two drunks on ice skates. The dance was started in the Carolina Beaches. Some still refer to our music as Beach Music. No not the Beach Boys or Jan and Dean. I am talking the Drifters, Tams the late great Billy Stewart, Martha Reeves most of the 50s & 60s music is ok to dance too.
Some of the newer music is pretty good also. It is the beat , we dance on a basic step of a 8 count.Mans left foot woman's right foot. Left foot and right foot comes forward and back together. There is a movie called Shag you can rent and see the dance and hear the music. Try it , I think you will like it. My momma started me out when I was young, her and her pals had no one to dance with so guess who was the dance partner ? Oh yeah. I think it was 1957 . I have been dancing and loving every minute of it..

I want to thank you for asking who and what a Gino is. Here he is. All 14 years of him. He is my boy.. Good boy, very smart loves his family and helps his mama and daddy cook. Takes out the trash and does his homework..

Zapped ..

Have you ever had a post that you worked on for 30 minutes zapped ? Well it just happened to me and I am upset about it.
The post was about our special dinner with Ribs, Chicken and Baked Beans. It was a mess and you would have loved to have seen the sauce and grease all over 3 faces who until Friday night hand never seen or tasted ribs and baked beans before. What a sight, napkins were of no use, they just stuck to their hands and got eaten too. The pulled pork was a big hit with Baby Girl. Gino eats anything he can get his hands on and Maryna, with ribs in one hand and a fork full of baked beans in the other was a sight to behold. Damn I love this life. Oh what a night !!

What A Time !!

The trip was great. I would everyone could have seen the faces of my family when they saw the beach and ocean for the first time. You know that look on your child's face when they see that special present under the tree ? Well it was like magic.
The trip started off with me brushing snow off of the car to load the trunk.Not a lot , just enough to piss me off. The trip was quick, it seems that the weather report was wrong, no way you say, way..The 200 mile trip was only about 3 hours and the weather got better and the sun came out. Not only did it come out, when we arrived it was 70f, perfect first time beach weather. Now if we could get lucky, the hotel would let us check in early. No problem, sir we received your E-Mail and you have been upgraded. Up to the room, open the door and Gino takes one look and say jes, jes , Baby Girl stands with her mouth open and Maryna is in heaven and I am a happy husband and daddy.I speak very little Ukrainian, I did understand they were very happy and wanted to get on the beach..That they did in record time after going on the balcony and feeling the wind , hearing the waves and seeing the gulls..
If I can figure how to post photos here I will let you see for yourselves how happy they were...More to come..

We are heading for Va Beach. Everyone have a good weekend and I will let you know how the trip went. It snowed here last night so this will be a fun drive and a pleasant outing. Snow and fun on the Atlantic Beach.

First Time Travel !!!!!!!!!!

Now being a Married Couple, I ask , honey what would you like to do for the Holiday ? My beautiful long legged wife responds, go to the beach.. Say what. Yes honey, we have never seen the ocean or the beach..Thinking about it, most of Central and Eastern Europe is land locked. Oh you can go see the sea and that does not count, I know this because Maryna told me so.. So I call Va Beach and make reservations at a very nice Holiday Inn beach resort. Now me being the Manly Man that I am think, Man O Man you have done good, everyone will be happy and you will be a honored Man and Father. Then the question was asked. Patrick have you ever been to this place before ? Without thinking , Oh yes you will love it !! Mistake , bad assed mastake. You would think that I would have learned by now to listen, think and then answer. Well my Redneck brain was thinking make her happy. May I ask when you went ? Oh shit ! Well I was there a few years ago and had a grand time. Were you with your former wife ? Busted, flat assed busted. WTF do you say or do ? Well I will tell you what I did real quick. I made a call and spoke with the hotel and found out that they had another hotel that was bigger and better down the ocean. Rooms were moved and all is well for the time being. It is just one of those things that a man has to do.. Damn I love this life.. Trip report to follow.........

Blogs !!!

Hello good folks,
It is amazing how you get use to reading other peoples blogs and when they don't post, you miss them. I don't mean miss the humor or the drama, I mean miss the person and worry if all is well with them.
I have been a shadow reader of blogs for some time now and have become a fan of many and a friend to some .
This has happened to me with a person who has been Awol for some time now and has a lot of people worrying about his sorry ass. Now we have come to understand that he has been hiding because of a business that he had at one time in Ukraine and he is starting a new business that if it turns out like the old one did"and it was not all his fault", he will have to hide and hide very well. This is a shame, because he has done so much good and many people will over look the good he has done in favor of the bad.. Billy Ocean said it very well in his song 1969, having forgiving and never forgetting..
Now it is my turn to try to write something entertaining or at least readable. The problem that I have is, I have not written anything in years. I have gotten lazy and my brain will just not work like I want it to. I set and think. I type and it still looks like my 5 year old has written it. What is a man to do ? I am not a writer and have no desire to be . I just like to throw things on the wall and see what sticks.
Other blogs I find interesting are ones from Europe. My pal Limey has one of the best I have found. This man has a following like a rock star, he is easy to follow and very easy to understand. The best thing about him is he is real. He is a good guy and I like reading his work.This is man that I would like to meet,we have more in common than he knows, we were just on different sides at times. Same goal just going about it a strange way.. There is a very classy lady in Calf that I like to read as well. One crazy potty mouthed law student in NYC , a crazy woman in Baltimore and a English Man that sounds like he is a wild man. Some seem to want to be writers others are just here to amuse us and to vent to the world. These are just a few of my blogger pals and I will write about others later..

I'm Back !!

Hello Good People,
Well I have been gone and not posting for a while. My pal's from other blogs have ask where my blog is and I have been ashamed to tell them that I have not been updating..
Well good news for me at least. Maryna and I got married saturday afternoon. It was a great time and all were happy, well all but one. My son and best man was late. He was staying with his mother while he was here. He goes saturday morning to get some things done , his mom was at work and he locked himself out of the house. This is at 11.00 am and the wedding was at 1.00 pm. He can't get in the house to change and get his camera. His lady Indica was with him she had no key and was in jeans as well. Now what does one do when that happens ? He shows up at 12.55 wearing jeans with a very upset lady , both in jeans and bad hair to top it off. I am just glad that they made it..
Baby Girl was beautiful as always . Gino was taking photos and having fun looking at all the pretty ladies in the house and Maryna and I only saw each other. My pal of 16 years Ari gave the bride away, guest had a good time and the food was great. I had no Idea that Ukrainian women did not go in the kitchen on their wedding day, at least that is Maryna's story and she seems to be sticking to it. So guess who was in the kitchen cooking ? Oh yeah. I am a pretty good cook and did not mind ,it kept me busy and the time passed very quick.
I am now a very happy man and all is well in my world. Damn I hope it stays that way......
